On that 2nd one I busted many a knuckle on one of those That is a model Caterpillar 3412 V12. 1649 cu. in. 730 H.P. In the over the Road trucks biggest they got was a 3408 V8, and every trucker that came thru wanted one, it is a Hoss

Could this be the same type of engine your referring to: www.depco.com/caterpillar-3412-marine-engines/Seems that I saw these in Vietnam under huge type garages being used as 24 hour generators on our compound. There were 2 of them, one running and the other being serviced (maintenance) mode, then it would be placed back online and the other taken offline for service. I don't recall that they were ever offline at the same time. Man oh man those was some BIG bad boys!

Thats it and it is governed to 1800 RPM's and there's versions of that engine runs on Propane, Methane, and Gasoline.

Talking about cooking, used to carry lunch in an aluminum pan, and set it on the manifolds before lunch and always had a Hot Meal. We had a guy baked a Turkey that way a one time
