One cup warm water 1/4 cup sugar 1/3 cup oil Two tablespoons yeast (comes out to 2 packages) One teaspoon salt One beaten egg 3 1/3 cup flour
In a large bowl mix together warm water, sugar, oil and yeast. Let stand 15 minutes until the yeast is bubbly. Stir in the salt and egg, then gradually add the flour. If to sticky add enough flour to make it manageable. Let rise in the bowl for 10 minutes, covered with a towel. Form dough into good sized balls and place on cookie sheet. You don't want them to touch each other. Cover with towel and let rise 20 minutes. Bake in 375 degree oven for 10 minutes or until tops are nice and brown. Makes 15 rolls.
I fixed these last night for dinner and they are good for a quick homemade roll. Ron really likes them and they have a tiny bit of a sweet taste to them. Will definitely fix them again. We actually heated 4 of them in the oven this morning and they were also great with fried eggs and potatoes!

I'm a bit picky when it comes to any type of dinner roll or whatever, but have to admit... These are GREAT!

Thanks, Judy, sounds good. What's a good sized ball? Golf ball, base ball, roughly, what inch diameter?

JJ I did mine about golf ball size. Of course you can do smaller and it will yield more rolls, but the golf ball size makes a nice big roll. As I said they are also good reheated either in the oven or microwave.

Thanks, Judy. Tom and I like a roll or slice of Italian bread with dinner, these sound good. I wonder if they would freeze or the yeast would fall? I guess I'll find out and let you know.
