I have to hand It to Laurie for coming up with this steak seasoning. We have tried and tried A LOT of steak seasonings and finally found one at a Chicago Steak House we really enjoy. We typically aren't "steak seasoning" folks, this one is pretty damn good though. She was able to dissect the ingredients and has come up with a damn near exact duplicate of this seasoning.....so here goes;
Laurie's Steak Seasoning 1/2 cup course (kosher) salt 1 tablespoon dried basil 1 tablespoon coarsely ground black pepper 1 small bay leaf (broken into VERY small pieces) 2 1/4 teaspoons garlic powder 2 1/4 teaspoons onion powder 2 1/4 teaspoons dried thyme 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and blend/mash for about 30 seconds. Put in jelly or spice jar and sprinkle on your favorite steak and rub in JUST before cooking. It's important that you season the meat just before cooking as salt will dry out meat if it stands on too long. Enjoy!

This is one we surely will try Bob and it sounds like a winner to me. Next time we have steaks, we'll update this to let you know how it went.

Gosh Bob what I like about this recipe is the fact that I have all the ingredients in the cupboard, so will give it a try the next steaks we cook. I am not much for steak seasoning except for salt and pepper but this sounds good. Ron likes a well seasoned steak also and this sounds right up his alley.
Thanks for posting it.
