This can be made with sauce from a jar, or homemade, both equally good. I learned how to make these almost fifty years ago, got the idea from someone in the military.
Look for pita bread that is pretty flat. You can use the small rounds or the large, depending on appetite. I can barely eat one small one, but my husband likes either a large one or one and a half small one.
Anyway, here is how it's done.
1 piece pita bread Several tablespoons marinara or spaghetti sauce Favorite toppings or not, your choice, like pepparoni, green peppers, etc. Shredded Mozzarella cheese
Spread some sauce on the bread, sprinkle cheese on top, bake at 325 till cheese melts, eat. (It's easier to eat if you cut it in half.)
We fix these in the toaster oven. But if I have a pita bread pizza party, we use the big oven. What's a pita bread pizza party, well, it's a lot of fun for a crowd.
Party fixings, chopped onin, sliced olives, diced tomatoes, pepparoni, crumbled browned sausage, diced ham, pineapple, the kitchen sink.
The party is done assembly line style. When the first batch of pizza's goes in the oven, the next group starts fixing theirs. This can be a mess, especially if a few brewskes have been consumed, so supple plenty of baking sheets for the assembly. I have found teens and young people love these get-togethers, and so do the men, it's really filling comfort food.
Another thing about this party is that all the preparation can be done the day before and then just set out on the counters when everyone shows up, that way, the host and hostess can mingle with the guests and enjoy the party too.
Enjoy

Now this sounds great JJ and as you may know, I'm not fond of pasta in any form, but I'm sure, Judy will dish up one of these sooner than later, which I'll give a try. By all means, thanks for sharing this. Cheers...

JJ, I can't thank you enough as Laurie left me starving here. Seriously it sounds delicious and this boy will certainly give it a try. Thank you!

You're welcome guys. My husband keeps pita bread in the freezer and when I fix spaghetti sauce, I have the noodles and he has a pita bread pizza. He has also made them on various kinds of tortillas, even making two layered ones and cutting them into wedges, but he says they are really too messy. You can pick up the pita bread and eat it just like a regular thick crust pizza. My daughter tried splitting a pita open and making a thin crust version, but she said it was too thin and not as good.
When the kids were home I always kept pita bread in the freezer because they liked pocket sandwiches. Also, I keep spaghetti sauce in very small containers in the freezer for those times when you just don't feel like cooking but a pita bread pizza hits the spot. Just add some potato chips and a pickle and it's a meal.

JJ I have had these when at our daughters house. She fixes them alot on the weekends as they are a quick lunch with chips plus the kids can put whatever topping they like on them.
Ron is not into this type of food so I have never made them here, but they are good! Now your making me hungry!

My older daughter likes to put ham and pineapple on hers. Blech! lol Yeah, I used to make them on the weekends a lot too, for my children and their friends. They were a bit hit.
